Gemius uses its researches to measure and analyze how internet consumers use the Publisher’s content (websites, applications). This Privacy Notice aims to provide Publishers with the information regarding the privacy in the context of their use of Gemius’ technologies.

What technologies do we use? What are they for?

The companies participating in our researches include piece of code in their content, i.e. they can embed it in their sites, audios, videos, ad campaigns and any other media users might engage with. Our software embedded in such content (so-called script) uses cookies and other technologies (like local storage contained in mobile applications) to gather statistical information.

This information helps understand what users find interesting and useful in the Publishers’ content, what advertising campaigns are effective and to learn what is the aggregated demographic composition of a content’s visitors and users or of a specific ad campaign audience. Thanks to the data stored in cookies one can watch ads that are in accordance with his/her interests and simultaneously one does not have to watch ads he/she finds boring.

How user can control cookies and other technologies?

Everyone can control cookies and other technologies through their browser’s settings. However any alterations to these settings may affect the functionality of certain websites. For information about how to assert that you do not agree to participate in researches conducted by Gemius, please see the “Cookie Policy” part.

What information do we collect?

We do not identify—and will not attempt to identify—the internet users who were exposed to specific type of content. Our scripts may collect information about the content that was viewed (e.g., which ad campaign), where the content was viewed (e.g., on which website or in which application), and general information about the device on which the content was viewed (e.g., tablet or smartphone, device identifier, IP address, operating system, etc.). In order to raise standards of ensuring the protection of internet users’ privacy Gemius has decided to introduce safeguards that prevent the identification of the IP addresses (for details please, contact us).

We also display surveys to internet users of our clients’ websites during their visits to these sites. These surveys require additional e.g. demographic, non-personally identifiable information. Participation in surveys is always voluntary and the users can choose whether or not to provide the information requested. All demographic data submitted remain anonymous.

In some of the studies we ask to provide us with contact information, such as e-mail address. Persons who provide their e-mail addresses are contacted for research purposes only. We don’t send any marketing or advertising materials to individuals who provide their contact information. All data gathered are used solely for the purposes of statistical analysis and we guarantee that no e-mail addresses will be made available to any third parties.

How do we use this information?

We use data to prepare statistical analyzes and reports. These reports are presented in aggregate form and do not contain personal-identifiable data. They may include the composition of the audience that viewed certain content, they can also indicate groups of internet users whose behavior meet some characteristics.

With whom do we share information?

Gemius SA, as headquarter company, is responsible for the information management. However, we may disclose your information to other companies for the delivery of our researches. This companies may be provided with access to your information when it is needed to perform their functions on our behalf, but are prohibited from using such information for any other purpose.

In addition, we may provide this information to third parties when disclosure is required by law or when necessary or desirable to exercise or preserve our legal rights, or to take action regarding potentially illegal activities. If all or part of our company is sold, merged or otherwise transferred to another entity, your information, whether personally identifiable or not, may be transferred as a part of that transaction.

Data retention

We store the information for as long as needed for our researches and analyses purposes and in accordance with the applicable law. If the research purpose is finished, personal identifiable data are deleted or anonymized.

Policy changes

This policy is based on the legal and factual situation as of effective date and is periodically reviewed. We encourage you to review this privacy notice frequently to ensure that you stay apprised of any changes.
